Not So Dumb After All
Our generation now is not the dumbest generation, it just depends on how you grew up in your house. I feel that the generation coming up after us will be even dumber since they do not have a lot of book knowledge, but they will be really good with technology. Its more often that I see children who can barely talk with phones, I Pods, and I Pads. I feel dumb when they know how to use technology better than me, but I realize I have more knowledge in my head. My mom taught me that I shouldn't always depend on technology because one day I may not be able to get what I need, so she taught me to try to think on my feet. This is why I do not feel we are the dumbest generation.

It really does depend on the home! In some homes parents are discussing politics and history, while in others they might "gather 'round" to watch America's Got Talent together, etc.
ReplyDeleteI follow your thoughts on feeling dumb myself when a six year old can do something better than me with technology. It is good that they know how to thoroughly use a high tech device but then again how are they using it? Is there an educated math app on their iPad? Is there a full library of enriching books on their kindle? These can be answered with most likely not. The responsibility then falls back on our parents, and why they taught us the way they did. Are they the lazy ones for not enforcing anything?
ReplyDeleteI agree with your opinion. It does depend on how you were raised or how your home was. Sometimes it can be the other way around. Those raised in good households may be dumb in this generation. Those raised in not so good households may be smart in this generation. It all depends on how you live your life
